He made the remarks Feb. 1 at the presentation of the Handbook on European law relating to asylum, borders and immigration jointly produced by the European Court of Human Rights and EU Agency for Fundamental Rights was presented in Baku Feb. 1.

Musayev said that tax is paid by the company that invited foreign employees to Azerbaijan, because it gets profit thanks to them.

“If a foreigner living and working in Azerbaijan, after the expiration of his/her working permit, must either live the country or extend his/her working permit under the legislation,” said Musayev.

According to him, previously, there has been a loophole in the legislation and a foreigner had to leave the country immediately after the expiration, however, this problem was solved and now foreigners are allowed to stay in the country for 10 days.

“Sometimes, the companies don’t extend the term of permit as a result of negligence. These companies are punished. The State Migration Service has created a Public Council. It has recently held a meeting, council members have prepared a package of proposals on loopholes in the law based on applications of the foreigners. Some of them were considered in order to make amendments to the Migration Code and sent to the relevant bodies,” he added.
