According to lawyer Fariz Namazli, the letter of Baku Taxes Department for payment of R.Jafarov’s tax debt was submitted to the court. He, on the ground that Jafarov has no tax debt, said that he filed petition to terminate the part of the criminal case regarding the Article #213 (tax evasion) of the Criminal Code. “The public prosecutor didn’t object to this either. The court declared termination of the charges on the Article #213. Thus, his sentence was reduced for 3 months”, said the lawyer.
Rasul Jafarov was arrested in August, 2014. He was convicted on the Criminal Code’s articles #178.3.2 (fraud) and 313 (falsification of documents). The Baku Court of Grave Crimes sentenced R.Jafarov to 6 years and 6 months’ imprisonment.
