Baku. Hafiz Heydarov – APA. Minister of Defense, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov has received Commander of the Special Forces of the Turkish Armed Forces, General Lieutenant Zekai Aksakalli, who is on a visit to Azerbaijan, Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said, APA reports.
Zakir Hasanov said that the sustainable military cooperation built on strategic partnership and fraternal relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey is developing.
Touching upon the military-political situation in the region, the minister mentioned that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is a main threat to regional stability and stressed the importance of resolving the conflict in compliance with international legal norms and rules.
After familiarization with the Azerbaijani Special Forces, General Lieutenant Aksakalli praised their training, equipment and maintenance. Underlining the importance of exchange of experience between the two countries' Special Forces and enhancing cooperation in the field of training and education, he mentioned that Turkey always stands by Azerbaijan in this direction.
Later, the sides exchanged views on the prospects of relations between the Special Forces of Azerbaijan and Turkey and other issues mutual interest.
