UK Minister: We feel sorry for Armenia

Baku. Rufat Ahmadzada - APA. Azerbaijani Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmar Mammadyarov has met with UK Minister for Europe David Lidington being on a visit to Baku, APA reports.

The sides discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral relations as well as the process of resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Azerbaijani FM Elmar Mammadyarov thoroughly informed the guest about the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and had discussions in this regard at the joint press conference following the meeting.

Mr. Lidington said that the UK regards Azerbaijan as an important economic partner. The minister mentioned that the UK stands ready to assist acceleration of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

To the question of APA’s correspondent that whether Armenia will receive assistance from the UN after its accession to the Eurasian Economic Union, Lidington answered that he feels sorry for Armenia's accession to the Eurasian Economic Union. “Armenia ignored the agreements of the European Union and we feel sorry for its accession to the Eurasian Economic Union. However, it is Armenia’s own decision. Armenia won’t be allocated funds by the European Union”, he said.
