2 blasts kill 3, wound 8 in Afghanistan

Baku-APA. Three people, including a suicide bomber, have lost their lives and eight others sustained injuries as two blasts rattled Afghan provinces on Saturday, officials said, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

The blasts, in the shape of suicide car bomb and sticky bomb, respectively, occurred in a span of 25 minutes and the first one took place in Taliban former stronghold the southern Helmand province with Lashkar Gah as its capital 555 km south of national capital Kabul city.

The first attack, which targeted a joint convoy of police and army outside Helmand provincial capital Lashkar Gah, left two security personnel dead and injured five others.

The attacker was also killed in the blast, the official asserted.

"A suicide car bomb organized by militants went off against a joint convoy of army and police outside Lashkar Gah city at 01: 05 p.m. local time today, killing two police personnel and injuring five soldiers," spokesman for provincial government, Omar Zawak told Xinhua.

Although no group or individual has claimed of responsibility, Zawak put the attack on Taliban militants.

In the second blast which shocked the northern Kunduz provincial capital the Kunduz city 250 km north of Kabul at 01:30 p.m. local time, three civilians sustained injuries, police said. "It was a sticky bomb planted on a vehicle and exploded in front of a mosque in Kunduz city injuring three passersby," police spokesman in the province, Sayed Sarwar Hussaini told Xinhua.
