Ramiz Mikayiloglu – APA. “Thanks to Heydar Aliyev’s wisdom and foresight, Azerbaijan has become a transporting country to Europe and implemented important projects”, the European Commission President Jose Manuel Barosso said in his video message at the 20th anniversary of the Contract of the Century and the Southern Gas Corridor groundbreaking ceremon, APA reports.
Jose Manuel Barosso said that the Southern Gas Corridor will be 2,000 km-corridor after completion: “This is not only a pipeline, but also a geostrategic project. You contribute to our energy security. This will be the project of 21st Century. I’m grateful to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. EU is able to develop cooperation with Azerbaijan. EU will support this project. As the friend of Azerbaijan, I will closely follow this project”.
