Large-scale military exercises end in Nakhchivan

The Defense Ministry told APA that an active phase of large-scale military exercises held by Azerbaijani Armed Forces in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic in accordance with the combat training plan for 2014 has been completed.

The exercises were held with the participation of near 20 000 personnel of Army Special Forces, about 400 armored vehicles, aviation systems, air defense forces, missile force and artillery troops, including modern armored vehicles.

During the exercises, tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, missiles, artillery, mortars and small arms fired practical shoots and special-purpose forces performed the practical tasks.

Azerbaijani Defense Minister, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov praised combat readiness of the forces in the field and expresses satisfaction with the results.

During his visit to military camps of the Army Special Forces, the minister appreciated the living conditions created for servicemen and their families by the leadership of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic under the order of Azerbaijani President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev. Deputy Head of the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration, Assistant to President on defense, Lieutenant General Vahid Aliyev also observed the exercises.
