Baku. Nijat Mustafayev – APA-Economics. Soon, Georgia, Bulgaria and Ukraine will join Trans-Eurasian Information Super Highway (TASIM), Deputy ICT Minister Iltimas Mammadov said in his interview to official website of New Azerbaijan Party, APA-Economics reports.
To him, it is planned to establish information transmission line having large capacity over optical fiber cables that conjoin the Western Europe and Eastern Asia on TASIM.
“On December 21, 2009 the Resolution on the TASIM project was adopted at the 64th session of the General Assembly of the UN. The UN expressed support for the project which aims to reduce poverty and accelerate economic growth. It will play a role as an engine for the development of the region. The TASIM project aims to connect a total of 20 countries. It will cause creation of new business projects and play special role in reduction of poverty in the country”, said Mammadov.
Mammadov also added that telecommunication operators of 5 countries (China, Kazakhstan, Russia, Azerbaijan and Turkey) are currently working on establishment of consortium for realization of the project: ‘In the near future, Georgia, Bulgaria and Ukraine are also expected to join the project. In December 2012, 67th session of the General Assembly of the UN gave the second political support to TASIM project with special resolution and recommended to establish special alliance on this project’.
