In January-August of this year, Azerbaijan received 1,748.0 thousand foreign nationals and stateless persons from 183 countries, which is 30.1% more compared to the same period of the previous year, the State Statistical Committee told APA-Economics.
28.7% of arrivals came from the Russian Federation, 16.2% from Türkiye, 9.2% from India, 8.1% from Iran, 4.4% from Saudi Arabia, 4.0% from Georgia, 3.3% from Kazakhstan, 2.8% from Pakistan, 1.8% from the United Arab Emirates, 1.7% from Uzbekistan, 1.5% from China, 1.4% each from Kuwait and Ukraine, 1.2% each from Israel, Turkmenistan, and Oman, and 1.0% from Belarus. Additionally, 10.9% were from other countries. Of the total arrivals, 66.8% were men and 33.2% were women.
Compared to the same period last year, the number of arrivals from India increased 2.4 times, from South Korea 2.2 times, from China 2.0 times, from Spain 1.8 times, from Kyrgyzstan 1.6 times, from the Philippines 1.6 times, from Kazakhstan 1.6 times, from Pakistan 1.5 times, from Jordan 1.5 times, from Oman 49.6%, from Iran 42.1%, from Italy 35.0%, from Poland 33.7%, from Saudi Arabia 31.4%, from Turkmenistan 30.3%, from Yemen 28.1%, from Egypt 26.7%, from Kuwait 23.8%, from the USA 21.6%, from Uzbekistan 20.9%, from Ukraine 18.9%, from Türkiye 18.8%, from Germany 18.6%, from the Russian Federation 17.7%, from France 12.6%, from Georgia 10.9%, from Moldova 10.9%, from Tajikistan 10.8%, from Bahrain 10.5%, and from the United Arab Emirates 10.1%.
Compared to the period from January to August 2023, the number of arrivals from Gulf countries increased by 34.5 percent to 307.2 thousand, from European Union member countries increased by 27.5 % to 67.9 thousand, and from CIS countries increased by 20.5 % to 663.6 thousand.
Of the foreigners and stateless persons arriving in our country, 75.6 percent used air transportation, 23.2 percent used rail and road transportation, and 1.2 percent used sea transportation.
