The world-renowned "NomadMania" travel club has visited the Jabrayil district, APA's local bureau reports.
The travelers closely observed the mine clearance operations in the Mehdili village area of the district.
Gadir Namazaliyev, the operational head of ANAMA's (Mine Action Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan) 3rd demining unit, provided them with information about the area.
He pointed out that mine clearance operations have been ongoing for 92 days in the minefield located in the Mehdili village area, and the contaminated area covers 83,511 square meters.
So far, 56,500 square meters of the area have been cleared, and 875 mines as well as one improvised explosive device (IED) have been discovered.
It was noted that the mines discovered in the area were neutralized by the explosion disposal group. Among the discovered mines, 720 were anti-personnel mines produced in Armenia, while 155 were anti-tank mines of Russian origin.
The travelers were introduced to the mine clearance operation and also observed the process of neutralizing the discovered ordnance through controlled explosions.
Thus, the visit of international travelers to the region has concluded.
