"To date, the remains of 642 missing persons have been exhumed from 18 mass graves discovered by the State Commission in the territories freed from occupation and within the framework of other urgent measures taken," said Ali Naghiyev, the chairman of the State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages, and Missing Persons, during his speech at the international conference on "Addressing the problems of missing persons: upholding the right to know for the families", APA reports.

Mr Nagiyev noted that as a result of the forensic molecular-genetic examination of the corpses discovered so far, the identities of 155 of the missing persons in the First Karabakh War were identified and announced to the public: "The identification of 131 of them was carried out by the Genetic Research Department of the State Security Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan It was carried out by the Center. That Center was established in 2022 by the relevant order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev.
