The second solar eclipse of 2024 will occur on October 2, the Department of Astrophysics of the Faculty of Physics of Baku State University (BSU) told APA.
According to the Department, the eclipse will be an annular solar eclipse. Since the Moon will be at a greater distance from the Earth, its angular size will be smaller than that of the Sun, the Moon will not completely cover the surface of the Sun during the eclipse, leaving a bright ring around it. Therefore, this type of eclipse is called an annular solar eclipse.
The eclipse event will begin on October 2 at 19:42:47 Baku time and will end on October 3 at 01:46:47.
The annular solar eclipse will be observed in southern Chile and Argentina. Countries that will at least see a partial eclipse include the southern United States, most of South America, the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, and Antarctica. The eclipse will not be visible from Azerbaijan.
