The 9th International Congress of Baku Heart Days dedicated to the memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev will be organized by the Azerbaijan Society of Cardiovascular Surgery on May 16–18, 2025, at the Gulustan Palace, APA reports.
The main goal of the Congress is to contribute to the development of cardiology and cardiovascular surgery in Azerbaijan, to exchange views with foreign specialists, and to discuss the latest innovations in the field of medical science. At the 9th International Congress of Baku Heart Days, nearly 400 local and foreign cardiologists and cardiac surgeons from 20 countries around the world will discuss the most pressing issues in cardiovascular diseases and their treatment.
One of the world’s most renowned cardiac surgeons, Prof. Dr. David Taggart from the United Kingdom and Prof. Dr. Shigeyuki Ozaki from Japan, will participate in the Congress as honorary guests. As part of the Congress, a live broadcast of a heart surgery directly from the operating room will also be organized.
According to the Congress program, on May 16, an expert meeting on EVAR-TEVAR, a mitral valve repair and surgical anastomosis course for young cardiovascular surgeons and residents, as well as training courses for nurses and perfusionists will be held.
On May 17–18, during 21 scientific sessions with the participation of cardiologists and cardiac surgeons, the latest scientific developments in this field of healthcare will be discussed. The program also includes joint sessions with the Turkish Society of Cardiovascular Surgery, the European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery, and the Azerbaijan Society of Reanimatologists-Anesthesiologists.
During the Congress, a Summit of the Turkic World Society of Cardiovascular Surgery, established last year in Türkiye upon the initiative of the Azerbaijan Society of Cardiovascular Surgery, will also be held.
The 9th International Congress of Baku Heart Days has been recognized by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan as a Continuing Medical Education (CME) event, and participants of the Congress will earn 20 CME points.
