"In accordance with the state directive for the reconstruction of Sarijali village in the Aghdam district, the area has been cleared, houses have been built, and residents have been relocated to the territory. The current demining operations are being conducted to clear additional areas for safety," Khalig Zulfugarov, ANAMA’s Head of Operations told journalists, APA’s Karabakh bureau reports.
He noted that additional areas around Sarijali village are being cleared to ensure safety: “Alongside ANAMA’s manual demining teams, mechanical demining equipment and specially trained mine-detection dogs have been involved in the clearance operations.”
It was also mentioned that the area being cleared lies along the former line of contact: “This is considered one of the most heavily contaminated areas with mines and unexploded ordnance. During the day, anti-personnel and anti-tank mines, as well as various types of unexploded ordnance, are detected. At the end of today’s workday, the neutralization of the discovered mines through controlled explosions will be demonstrated to you.”
