"The Law on Protection of the Population's Healthcare does not address the storage of gametes or their donation. This means that the process of follicular donation is illegal," said Tarana Rajabli, Chair of the Maternity Assistance Commission at TABIB, Deputy Director of Sumgayit Medical Center, and Head of the Perinatal Center, in an interview with APA.

She pointed out that artificial insemination started in the United States, where a doctor caused up to 100 women to have children using his reproductive cells. "This must be strictly regulated by law. Of course, it also falls under the jurisdiction of law enforcement agencies. The law does not account for the storage and donation of gametes, which means the process is illegal. Donor women undergo high doses of hormonal treatments to participate in this process, which is harmful to their health. Additionally, this negatively impacts our gene pool."
