"During 2020-2022, the number of floods in Azerbaijan was 20, in 2023, this figure reached 147. This is a record", said Azerbaijan's Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Umayra Taghiyeva during the panel session on "Tackling the impacts and risks of climate change: our perspective outlook on COP29" within the framework of the conference titled "Raising Ambition, Delivering Action: COP29 Sustainable Business Forum" held in Baku, APA reports.
"Expected risks related to climate changes must be considered," she added.
According to the deputy minister, based on the results of the past 20 years, the number of greenhouse waves has increased 14 times in Baku, and 6 times in the regions.
"If we talk about reducing carbon footprint, green thinking and green approach should be prioritized."
