Baku hosts X meeting of Governing Committee of UN Anti-Corruption Network

The tenth meeting of the Governing Committee of the United Nations (UN) Global Network against Corruption (GlobE Network) is being held in Baku, APA reports citing the Press Service of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

According to the information, on May 19, the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan, in cooperation with the UN Global Operational Network of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Authorities (GlobE Network), is organizing the tenth meeting of the GlobE Network’s Governing Committee in Baku.

Participating in the opening ceremony of the event, Azerbaijan's Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev spoke about the significant achievements made in the fight against corruption in the country under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev.

In her speech at the opening ceremony, Brigitte Strobel-Schav, Head of the Corruption and Economic Crimes Section of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Nasser Abaalkail, Chair of the GlobE Network’s Governing Committee, and Deputy Chair Boni de Moraes Soares thanked for arranging the event in a professional manner and discussed the work done by the Network during the past period, as well as the issues to be addressed in the current meeting of the Governing Committee. New membership admissions, expansion of communication services, and other current issues were discussed during the meeting.

Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev also held a bilateral meeting with Mazin Bin Ibrahim Al-Kahmus, President of the Saudi Arabian Authority for Oversight and Anti-Corruption (NAZAHA).

Following the meeting, the guests visited the Heydar Aliyev corner dedicated to the life and work of the national leader at the History Museum of the Prosecutor General's Office and viewed exhibits reflecting the development path of the Azerbaijani Prosecutor’s Office.

The meeting was also attended by Issam bin Saleh al-Jutayli, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Azerbaijan.
