"Armenians, who implemented an occupation policy against Azerbaijan, destroyed the cultural, religious, and historical monuments and cemeteries belonging to the Azerbaijani people in the city of Khankendi and surrounding settlements. Unlike them, today, the Armenian cemeteries and churches in Khankendi are preserved by the Azerbaijani state. The Armenian residents of Khankendi live here comfortably and safely," Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the city of Khankendi, and the Aghdara and Khojaly districts, Elchin Yusubov said during a meeting with members of the diplomatic corps in Khankendi, APA reports.
He noted that large-scale construction and restoration works are currently being carried out in the liberated territories. New modern highways, railways, and airways are being built. Residential areas are being provided with electricity, drinking water, and natural gas. Extensive green zones are being created in the areas.
It was noted that the city of Khankendi and other settlements are creating a favorable environment for entrepreneurs. AZN 30 million have been invested by 439 entrepreneurial entities in the city of Khankendi, and the districts of Agdara and Khojaly.
Nearly 1,900 individuals have been employed in the private sector, with plans to increase this number to over 3,000 by the end of the year. Employment is being ensured for the population, and new jobs are being created. New educational institutions, medical centers, and other necessary infrastructure are being established in the districts to facilitate the return of the population. Under the "Great Return" program, returning citizens are benefiting from these services. The areas are being cleared of mines, with foreign specialists involved in the process. Construction works are carried out in areas cleared of mines and unexploded ordnance according to plan. A master plan for the city of Khankendi is also being developed. In total, approximately 12,000 people have been resettled in seven settlements in the districts of Khankendi, Agdara, and Khojaly.
