"Armenia's mining industry had a serious negative impact on Azerbaijan's ecological environment," The Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Fuad Najafli said a conference, APA reports.

He stated that toxic metal waste from Armenia was discharged into both the Araz River and the Shir Arkhi, leading to the destruction of hundreds of migratory birds and fish: "The pollution of the Araz River by Armenia continues to this day. This results in the destruction of flora and fauna in the areas along the Araz River. There is almost a threat of many plants and animals becoming extinct from nature. Recent observations have revealed that the river's water has thickened, and its color has changed. Despite all this, Armenia continues its actions against nature."

The Plenipotentiary Representative stressed that recently, as a result of eco-terrorism, fish in the Shir Arkhi in Sadarak district have also been destroyed.
