Head of the International Relations Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel Arguj Kalantarli, participated in the high-level meetings and plenary sessions of the next session of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction of the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) held in Geneva on June 2-6, within the framework of his visit to the Swiss Confederation, the Ministry of Emergency Situations told APA.
According to the report, within the framework of the event, Arguj Kalantarli met with Ms. Natalia Alonso Cano, Head of the Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia of the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction. During the meeting, the issues of implementing the Political Declaration of the High-Level Review Conference of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction were widely discussed, and views were exchanged on the prospects for strengthening cooperation in the field of emergency management at the international level.
Ms. Natalia Alonso Cano, in turn, highly appreciated the work done within the framework of cooperation, and in this regard, she expressed her interest in expanding multifaceted cooperation with Azerbaijan, emphasizing the importance of promoting joint projects, exchanging mutual experiences and strengthening institutional cooperation.
During the visit, meetings were held with the Permanent Representatives of a number of countries to the UN Office in Geneva and other international organizations, and the prospects for expanding partnership in the field of joint activities and emergency management within international organizations, including the International Civil Protection Organization, were discussed.
