Azerbaijani experts sent to Astara to check level of radiation-UPDATED

Mobile teams consisting of specialists from the State Agency for Regulation of Nuclear and Radiological Activities of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the "Isotope" special enterprise and the Radiation and Chemical Laboratory of the Civil Defense Troops conducted examinations along the southern borders of the country (at 30 points), including in the territory of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, with the aim of measuring the radiation background using special devices, APA reports citing a joint statement released by the press services of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources.

It was noted that no radiation background contamination was detected in the environment during the examinations. The examinations are being continued regularly.

Also, automatic stations of the Environmental Monitoring Center of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources operate in Astara, Beylagan, Zangilan, Sadarak and other border regions in order to continuously monitor the radiation conditions throughout the country, including in trans-border regions, and daily observations on the radiation background are conducted through these stations.

No air pollution has been observed at this time.

Following the developments in Iran, experts were dispatched to Astara to check the level of radiation in Azerbaijan, APA's southern bureau reports.

Experts from the Nuclear Research Department of the Innovation and Digital Development Agency have begun research in Astara to determine the level of radiation in the southern regions of Azerbaijan following the attack on nuclear facilities in Iran.

The research in the Astara border zone has already been completed.

Currently, experts are continuing the research in other areas.
