Azerbaijan prioritizes multilateralism in its foreign policy, and there are many practical examples of this, said Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Yalchin Rafiyev during a discussion themed "The Rise of the Global South and the West: Azerbaijan's Role, Cooperation, and New Opportunities for Development" at a wide-ranging meeting of the Committee for International Relations and Interparliamentary Connections of Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani Parliament), APA reports.
The Deputy Minister noted that multilateralism is currently going through a complex period: "The Global South is developing, experiencing a leap both economically and in terms of political influence. These countries, which account for 39% of the global GDP, are undergoing a leap period. BRICS is expanding further, with four additional countries joining the original five-member organization. BRICS is already becoming one of the important actors of the Global South."
