"Pharmaceuticals are a key component of Hungary-Azerbaijan cooperation, accounting for 49% of Hungary’s exports to Azerbaijan," said Tamás József Torma, Hungary’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Azerbaijan, at the international conference titled "The Pharmaceutical Industry of Azerbaijan: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow" held in Baku, APA reports.

The ambassador noted that the conference clearly demonstrates Hungary’s desire to contribute to the development of the pharmaceutical industry in Azerbaijan: "Two of Hungary’s most well-known pharmaceutical companies have been operating in Azerbaijan since 1990. The University of Pécs and the Azerbaijan Medical University intend to begin cooperation in training pharmaceutical specialists in the country."

"Hungary began exporting medicines to the independent Republic of Azerbaijan in the 1990s. During the Karabakh war, Hungary’s EGIS company donated medical supplies to Azerbaijan," the Hungarian ambassador added.
