The 29th Annual Conference and General Assembly of the International Association of Prosecutors (IAP), the first and only global organization for prosecutors worldwide, commenced at the Baku Congress Center, APA reports.
The event began with the reading of an address from President Ilham Aliyev to the attendees, delivered by Kamran Aliyev, Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The opening ceremony featured speeches by Kamran Aliyev, Prosecutor General, and Juan Bautista Mahiques, the President of the IAP and Attorney General of the Public Prosecution Service of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.
Approximately 470 participants from 95 countries, including prosecutors and other high-ranking officials, take part in the 29th annual conference and general assembly.
The event will include various plenary sessions, working group meetings, and both bilateral and multilateral discussions, along with a series of social activities designed to foster professional connections among prosecutors and lawyers from different nations.
The four-day conference themed “Role of the Prosecutor in Upholding the Rule of Law” will feature presentations on topics such as transparency, accountability and data protection in the framework of digital evidence and AI usage, prosecuting domestic and
gender-based violence, economic crime and asset recovery etc.
Several important decisions regarding the strategy and future activities of the IAP are expected to be made during the event
