The traditional 15th Pomegranate Festival kicked off in Azerbaijan's Goychay, APA's Shirvan bureau reports.
Exhibitions, compositions, folklore examples were displayed at the holiday celebration.
State and government representatives attended the the holiday event organized by the Executive Power. An exhibition of products made from products grown by people engaged in pomegranate cultivation in more than 25 villages of the region was inspected.
Along with the publications promoting Azerbaijan's national-moral values, historical past and examples of Eastern literature, books on the development and medical-social philosophy of pomegranate cultivation were also included in the festival.
An exhibition of the schoolchildren's handicrafts were shown at the festival, folklore examples were performed by Gochay's women.
It was noted that over 3,308 hectares of new pomegranate orchards were planted in the Goychay district in the last three years, and new production facilities have started operating. Last year, more than 50,000 tons of pomegranates were produced in Goychay.
Pomegranate festival will continue until today evening and tomorrow.
