Bakhtiyar Najafov has been nominated for the position of Yereavan Qadi of the Qadi Council of the Caucasus Muslims Office (CMO), Chairman of the CMO Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazadeh said at the meeting of the Council of Elders of the CMO, APA reports.
The Chairman of the CMO said that the appointment of Bakhtiyar Najafov as the Iravan Qadi was approved by a vote.
The Statute of the Iravan Qadi has been approved. Fuad Nurullayev, Deputy Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office, read out the Statute at the meeting of the Council of Elders of the CMO.
It was noted that the Yerevan Gaqi will be located in the building of the CMO for the time being.
Allahshukur Pashazadeh said that the most respected people in Azerbaijan have been appointed as the Yerevan Qadi:
"There were more than 300 mosques and dozens of madrasahs in the Yerevan province. The most respected people in Azerbaijan have been appointed as the Yerevan Qadi. During the occupation of Azerbaijani lands by Armenia, Islamic civilization was razed to the ground. This occupation did not remain without an impact on the Yerevan Qadi of the CMO. Under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, our Army liberated our lands from occupation, and those territories are now being restored and reconstruction work is underway. All this necessitated the reorganization of the Yerevan Qadi."

The meeting was officially opened with the sounding of the national anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
