There is no problem in Azerbaijan on religious and national grounds, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said addressing an international conference, titled "2017- Year of Islamic Solidarity: Interfaith and Intercultural Dialogue", which kicked off in Baku on Dec. 21, APA reported.

"Large-scale measures are being taken in Azerbaijan toward inter-religious and intercultural dialogue,” said President Aliyev underling Azerbaijan’s major role in inter-civilizational dialogue.

The head of state stressed the need to strengthen inter-religious dialogue worldwide.

“In this regard, Baku has made high level calls many times. The year 2016 was declared the “Year of Multiculturalism” in our country. Multiculturalism is a state policy, as well as a lifestyle, in our country," he said.

President Aliyev recalled that the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games were held at a high-level in Baku this year.

"More than 3,000 athletes and thousands of guests from more than 50 countries participated in these Games. This major event also became a holiday of friendship and brotherhood,” the president said, adding. “Earlier, Baku had hosted the first-ever European Games. These two events show Azerbaijan's relationship with both Europe and the Islamic world. At the same time, our country plays an important role in dialogue among civilizations and cultures.”
