“We must fight against extremism and religious discrimination from common position,” Yousef bin Ahmad Al-Othaimeen, Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), said at the 5th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue, held under the motto “Building Dialogue into Action against Discrimination, Inequality and Violent Conflict” in Baku today.

He said that today clashes are taking place between different poles.

“These are the steps taken by narrow minded people. The states in the west and the east should cooperate. In this regard, intercultural dialogue and cooperation in all spheres are important.”

The OIC secretary general said that intercultural dialogue is a path for nations to co-existence.

“We would like to work together to prevent religious extremism. Sometimes extremism is linked to Islam. But what is happening in the world shows the opposite of this. We must understand the challenges ahead of us and contribute to the prevention of conflicts,” said Yousef bin Ahmad Al-Othaimeen.
