Azerbaijan and the EU have discussed the Southern Gas Corridor project, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said at a press conference following a plenary session of the 16th meeting of the EU-Azerbaijan Cooperation Council, ONA reports.
"We discussed an absolutely tremendous geo-strategic project, namely the Southern Gas Corridor. We believe that in 2020, when it will be implemented and the Caspian gas from Azerbaijani sector will reach the market of Italy, it will be opening up absolutely new opportunities."
"The Southern Gas Corridor can be expanded to some other countries in the region, particularly to the Balkan states," the Azerbaijani minister said.
