Azerbaijan will not get 16.5% of terminal dues for the least developed countries next year. The Communications and Information Technologies Ministry of Azerbaijan said Universal Postal Union took into account occupation of Azerbaijan’s territory by Armenia and mass damages to Azerbaijan while making the decision on compensation. Azerbaijan will get only 8% next year because the United Nations struck Azerbaijan off the list of least developed countries, and application for compensation can be considered once during a congress of the UTU.
Azerbaijan will earn $50,000 from the compensation this year. By a decision adopted at Beijing Congress in 1999, the developed countries pay 8% of terminal dues (non-parcel mail) to the least developed countries which need resources the most to improve their postal infrastructure. /APA-Economics/
