The price of wheat goes up in regions of Azerbaijan

Exemption of the imported grain from value added tax has not yet affected the prices of wheat and flour in Azerbaijan.
Although grain harvest has ended in most regions of the country, the prices of wheat and flour still remain high.
According to the APA-Economics’ monitoring in the regions, the price of grain continued to increase in August and early September.
Experts attributed the higher prices to the global uptrend.
The Ministry of Agriculture reported that a total of 1.883 million tons of grain was harvested in the country as of September 1.
Although exact figures are not available, the ministry said wheat accounted for 1.3 million tons of the harvest.
The grain acreage fell about 20,000 hectares this year.
The State Customs Committee reported that 630,407.1 tons of wheat and 348.5 tons of flour were imported to the country during the seven months.
Now the price of wheat is 25-28 kopecks per kilo and the price of flour is AZN 20 per 50-kilo sack.
The price of grain doubled year-over-year.
The price of wheat per kilo is 28-30 kopecks in Aghdam, Barda, Aghjabadi, Yevlakh, Naftalan, Goranboy and Terter, APA bureau reports.
The price went up by 5 kopecks from August 1, and 10 kopecks from July 1.
The price of wheat jumped 50% to 30 kopecks in Fuzuli, Imishli and Beylagan.
The price of wheat climbed 15 kopecks to 40 kopecks per kilo in Lankeran, Astara, Lerik and Masalli, APA Bureau reports.
The price is 28 kopecks in Sabirabad, Saatli, Salyan, Neftchala and Ali Bayramli.
APA Bureau reports that the price of wheat rose 10 kopecks to 30 kopecks in Khachmaz, Guba, Devechi and Gusar.
The price of wheat rose only 2-3 kopecks to 24-26 kopecks in Aghdash, Kurdemir, Udjar, Zardab, Aghsu and Goychay, APA Bureau reports.
Meanwhile, the price of wheat fell in Sheki, Zagatala, Gakh and Balakan.
The price of wheat fell 1-2 kopecks to 28-29 kopecks here, APA Bureau reports.
The price of wheat remained unchanged at 30 kopecks in Gandja, the second largest city of Azerbaijan.

While the price of wheat increased throughout the country, the price of flour started to fall. The price of flour ranged from AZN 18 to AZN 19. The price went up in Lenkeran and Gandja only.
