IMF predicts inflation will not step up in Azerbaijan next year

“The inflation rate went to 15% over the past 12 months. We think the government doesn’t need to increase the current expenditures in 2008 and the inflation rate will not step up in the country,” he added.
Vitali Kramarenko also noted that he doesn’t expect extensive wage rise in Azerbaijan next year and that’s why the inflation will not move further up.
The mission led to Azerbaijan by the IMF officer for Near East and Middle Asia Vitali Kramarenko has had meetings at the President’s Office, Economic Development, Finance, Taxes Ministries, Social Protection Fund, SOCAR, SOFAZ and State Customs Committee and National Bank.
The main objective of the visit was to discuss 2H macroeconomic indicators, prospects and 2008 budget. /APA-Economics/
