Gazprom says gas importation between Azerbaijan and Russia can be resumed after intergovernmental decision

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Naryshkin said a few days ago in Baku that importation of Russian gas to Azerbaijan may be resumed.
Since early January, Azerbaijan refused to pay $235 per 1,000 cu m of Russian gas compared to $110 until 2007 which used to fuel the country’s power stations, and reoriented its stations to run on fuel oil.
Natural gas consumption was 10.4 billion cubic meters in Azerbaijan for 2006, of which 4.480 billion cubic meters came from Russia, and 5.9 billion cubic meters from SOCAR.
Azerbaijan launched gas production in Shah Deniz Field. Experts say Azerbaijan will become a large natural gas supplier soon. /APA-Economics/
