Initial agreement reached on continuation of RTRâ€™s broadcasting in Azerbaijan

He said that draft of the interstate agreement on regulation of TV programsâ€™ broadcasting in the two countries was debated yesterday. Common principles regarding broadcasting were determined. Russia accepted most of Azerbaijanâ€™s proposals. Abdullayev said that only the issue on continuation of RTRâ€™s broadcasting was debated at the meeting.
Russia agreed on broadcasting of AzTV in the country.
Coverage of AzTVâ€™s broadcasting in Russia will be debated at the next meeting of the working group. Russia also accepted the condition which prohibits broadcasting programs against Azerbaijanâ€™s territorial integrity.
Russia will appoint the date of the next meeting.
Abdullayev said that Azerbaijan will review Russiaâ€™s proposals on implementation of the agreement within 10 days.
After reaching an agreement the sides will sign interstate contract and subcontracts with relevant bodies.
The sides agreed on solving the issue on broadcasting by July 10.
National Television and Radio Council passed a decision on suspending broadcasting of Russiaâ€™s channels RTR and ORT as from July 10. /APA/
