The USAID will allocate $3.7 million to strengthen Azerbaijan’s trade potential, said the deputy U.S. Ambassador Mr. Donald Lu.
He added that the U.S. government has since 2004 rendered $3 million technical assistance to support Azerbaijan’s WTO accession efforts.
“Last October the U.S. ambassador to the WTO, Peter Allgeier, visited Baku and had meeting with a number of government officials,” he noted.
The deputy ambassador added that the trade among WTO members accounts for 90% of the goods and services traded worldwide.
“Being in the outside would be negative for Azerbaijan,” he concluded.
Azerbaijan was granted observer status in 1997. /APA-Economics/
