Azerbaijan, EU discuss WTO accession in Brussels

Azerbaijan and the European Union (EU) have held negotiations on the country’s WTO accession efforts in Brussels.
EU Trade Commissioner Peter Mandelson’s Office told APA-Economics that the principal objective of the meeting was to discuss Azerbaijan’s accession to WTO. The meeting also discussed delivery of Azerbaijani products and services to the world market. The negotiations concluded that the EU completely supports Azerbaijan’s accession efforts.
Azerbaijan is the only one in bilateral negotiations with the EU members on the issue.
Azerbaijan will also start bilateral talks with Turkey in the nearest future.
The Azerbaijan’s Working Party with the World Trade Organization will have its fifth meeting at the headquarters of the WTO, Geneva in June.
Depending on the schedule, the meeting may also be put off until autumn. The meeting will focus on liberalization of market segments of Azerbaijan.
