Azerbaijan plans to increase the grain production to 2.8 million tons by 2015, Sabir Valiyev, officer of Azerbaijan’s Agriculture Ministry, told a press conference amid the 13th Azerbaijan International Food, Drinks and Packaging Exhibition (InterFood Azerbaijan-2007).
He added that Azerbaijan supplies its demand for fruits and vegetables but can’t satisfy the demand or grain.
“Azerbaijan’s fruit production beat the demand. We produced 662,000 tons of fruits, 50% more than the demand. The annual demand or grain is 2.1 million tons, we want to supply at least 70% to 80% of the needs,” he noted. /APA-Economics/
