Agriculture goods not expected to appreciate in Azerbaijan, minister says

He said that Azerbaijan supplies its demand for meat 80% and dairy partially. He said that the country should import more productive sorts of livestock. He added that higher pastures account 20% while there were up to 560,000 hectares of grazing lands before occupation of Azeri land by Armenia.
The minister added that AZN 801,000 has been allocated for artificial fertilization for the development of cattle rearing.
He also said that it is forecasted to produce 200,000 tons of cotton this year while it was below 100,000 tons in 2006.
“We have more potential. Just imagine, we produced 1 million tons of cotton in 1982,†he noted.
Between 1,200 and 1,500 hectares of grape were planted and it is planned to produce 200,000 tons of sugar beets. /APA-Economics/
