Nar Mobile marks launch of its operation

Azerbaijan’s new GSM operator Azerfon, launched on March 21 with a unique brand- Nar Mobile, celebrated start of its business activity, Wednesday.
The Director General John Armley briefed participants about the company, saying they have developed a number of unique innovative and competitive services and offered efficient tariff plans and packages which are more competitive and flexible for customers.
Deputy Minister of Azerbaijan’s Communications and Information Technologies, Iltimas Mammadov expressed his congratulations and said that Azerbaijan beats many countries for the popular interest in mobile communications. He added that Azerfon didn’t see any obstacles while penetrating the GSM market in Azerbaijan because of favorable investment climate and legal framework.
At present, Nar Mobile’s service coverage reaches 80% of Azerbaijan’s territory. Initially, this coverage consists of both Azerfon’s own network and national roaming.
By the end of 2007 Azerfon’s own network coverage is slated to beat 80% with a capacity of over 1,000,000 customers without national roaming.
Azerfon LLC was granted a license by Communications and Information Technologies Ministry of Azerbaijan dated 28.12.2005 for the provision of GSM mobile communications services in 900/1800 MHz band throughout the territory of Azerbaijan. /APA-Economics/
