The National Bank of Azerbaijan has detected 40 counterfeit bills in 1 and 5 manat notes during the first quarter of the year. The Bank officer Hajibaba Masimov told APA-Economics the copies were forged through computers and laser-jet Xeroxes.
“The only way out is to increase awareness among people in order to inform them about the secret signs and elements which can not be counterfeited. The forgers acquire high-tech equipment while it is impossible to exactly copy realistic bills. The counterfeit money is easily recognized if you know the signs,” he added.
He added that the old currency notes account for 0.8% in the circulation at present. /APA-Economics/
