Energy ministers of five southern European countries - Croatia, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia and Italy- Tuesday inked a multilateral declaration to lay a pipeline to pump oil from Romania to Italy, APA-Economics reports.
At its annual throughput capacity of 90 million tons, the 1,319km long pipeline is to deliver the Caspian Sea crude oil from the Romanian Black Sea port of Constanta, via Romania, Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia to the Italian northern Adriatic port of Trieste, bypassing the congested Bosphorus and Dardanelles.
Construction of the $3.5 billion pipeline is due to come on line between 2011 and 2013. /APA-Economics/
