Feb. 16, The Dow Jones Industrial Average index jumped 2.5 points, or 0.02%, to end at 12,767.57, posting its third straight record high close. Nasdaq lost 0.03% to 2496.31, S&P 500 dipped 0.09% to 1455.54, APA reports. Though the wholesale price figures were greeted positively, other data showed a continued slowdown in the housing market, as the number of new homes in January fell to their lowest level in nearly a decade.
European stocks came slightly lower, as mining stocks ricocheted from recent highs and as weak housing data from the US rattled sentiment in building materials companies.
London’s FTSE 100 lost 0.21% to close at 6,419.50 points. In Paris, the CAC 40 slipped 0.13% to finish at 5,713.59 while in Frankfurt the Dax fell 0.02% to 6,957.07. /APA/
