Azerbaijan is among 43 countries to be represented at the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest, APA reports.
This list has been posted in the website of Eurovision. A record number of participants were registered in the Song Contest to be held for 53rd time.
Albania, Andorra, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, FYR Macedonia , Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland , Portugal, Romania, Russia, San Marino, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and Ukraine will be represented in the song contest which will be held in Belgrade on May 20-24. The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) officially confirmed today that two additional countries, San Marino and Azerbaijan will participate in the contest for the first time.
The selection among 5 singers continues for representing Azerbaijan in the contest. They are winner of “Sing your song” contest Elnur, participant of “Azeri star” contest Aynur Iskandarova, Erkin Osmanli, participant of “Academy” music contest Aytaj Jafarova and “Unformal” rock group. Only one of the above-said singers will represent Azerbaijan in 2008 Eurovision Song Contest. /APA/
