Murad Dadashov: Azerbaijan will not join Eurovision Song Contest in 2008

Azerbaijan will not join Eurovision Song Contest in 2008, Murad Dadashov recently returned from Finland and met with the organizing committee of the contest told the APA. He said that the visit was supported by Culture and Tourism Ministry and underlined that Azerbaijan will have the chance of joining the contest only in 2009.
â€œWe had to start preparations for the contest in order to join it in 2008. It is a pity that the process was late. The organizing committee told me that Azerbaijan will be able to join the contest in 2009 if the preparations start now. The TV channelsâ€™ ignoring it impeded the process,â€ he said.
Murad Dadashov said that Culture and Tourism Minister Abulfas Garayev does his best for this.
Murad Dadashov said that it is early to name the singer who will represent Azerbaijan in Eurovision-2009. He considers that 8-10 singers should be prepared for the contest.
â€œIf we train about 10 singers we will determine which of them will participate in the contest. Council should be set up for this purpose. The council should approve the singer and later be trained. The council should be composed of specialists and representatives of Culture Ministry,â€ he said. /APA/
