Azerbaijani National Security Minister receives head of Azerbaijani representation of International Committee of the Red Cross

The minister said the meetings and discussions with ICRC are constructive and cooperation is developing and noted that identification of the persons missing as a result of Armenia’s aggression against Azerbaijan is the priority of the Commission. Eldar Mahmudov said that 4354 Azerbaijanis were registered as missing persons in the State Commission, 1393 people were released from Armenian captivity, 684 were identified by the working group of the commission in the past three years, 15 Azerbaijanis were released from captivity within this period and 14 Armenians were handed over. Eldar Mahmudov said that the state commission thoroughly analyzed the draft framework agreement on collecting and managing ante mortem materials about the missing persons, which was presented for the last discussion at the previous meting, debates were held with relevant government agencies and final judgment and proposals were sent to the International Committee of the Red Cross, and noted that necessary measures were taken in connection with the importance of the document for identification of the missing persons before the agreement was signed.
Martin Amasher expressed his gratitude for providing conditions for him to meet with the persons held in National Security Ministry’s detention place, and underlined that the detention place meets modern standards and the work is in line with relevant norms and standards.
