A visit to Martyrsâ€™ Avenue on 16th anniversary of Dashalti operation

Visitors gathered in font of plague for memory of martyrs of Dashalti operation and commemorated the martyrs and missing people during the operation. Fuzuli Rzaguliyev, head of Azerbaijan Union of Patriotic War Veterans stated that though Azerbaijani soldiers ran in to ambush of Armenians, they did not surrender and they fought to the death.
â€œJafarov Zaur who was without any bullet left shot himself with last bullet in order not to be captured. Khalilov Rovshen blasted the enemies and himself with F-1 hand grenade. Tens of voluntary fighters killed enemies and themselves no to be captured,â€ he said.
Dashalti operation began at 20.00 on January in 1992 and finished unsuccessfully on January. Major-general Tajeddin Majidov, former Defense Minister headed the operation for the purpose of releasing Dashalti village.3 units and defense party of Shusha participated in the operation. Azerbaijani troops entering Dashalti in the direction of Nabilar village ran into ambush of Armenians at the result of tactical mistakes, lack of communication between groups, release of intelligence, and betrayal of guardians and were destroyed. Several troops entering the village gave losses and managed to retreat. According to official reports, Azerbaijani Army gave more 90,000 losses and majority of them is still missing people. Armenians also lost about 80 troops and much equipment during the operation./APA/
