The Paris 2024 Olympic Games will officially start with an exceptional opening ceremony across the River Seine on Friday evening, APA reports.
"Paris 2024 is breaking new ground by bringing sports into the city and the same will be true of the Opening Ceremony, set to be held in the heart of the city along its main artery: the Seine," the Paris 2024 statement read.
"The river parade will follow the course of the Seine, from east to west over 6 kilometers (3.7 miles)," it said and adding that nearly 100 boats will carry 10,500 athletes, who will go for medals at Paris 2024.
The opening ceremony will start at 19:30 local time and 22:30 Baku time.
It will be open to the general public.
Judoka Gultaj Mammadaliyeva and boxer Mahammad Abdullayev will carry the flag of Azerbaijan in the parade at the opening ceremony.
Noted that the Azerbaijani national team is represented in France by 48 athletes. The team will perform in 17 programs in 15 sports. Paris-2024 will be concluded on August 11.
