Kamran Aliyev has been reappointed as the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan, APA reports.
President Ilham Aliyev has signed an Order to this effect.
Note that, according to Article 16 of the Law on the Prosecutor’s Office, the term of office for the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan is five years. Kamran Aliyev was first appointed to the position on May 1, 2020.
According to the Constitution, the Milli Majlis (Parliament) of the Republic of Azerbaijan gives consent to the appointment and dismissal of the Prosecutor General upon the recommendation of the President. At today’s parliamentary session, the issue of consenting to the appointment of the Prosecutor General was put to discussion, and the parliament approved Kamran Aliyev’s reappointment to the position.
