On July 18, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Petr Fiala in Oxford at the latter's request, APA reports.
During the meeting, satisfaction with the political dialogue between the countries was expressed.
Petr Fiala stated that the relations between Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic are of a strategic nature and are built on very strong foundations. He noted that the Czech Republic intends to continue developing its relations with Azerbaijan.
Noting the dynamic development of Azerbaijan-Czech relations, President of Azerbaijan expressed his satisfaction that the relations have a strategic partnership character.
During the meeting, an exchange of views was held on the development prospects of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic in the energy sector, including the oil-gas field. It was emphasized that Azerbaijani oil is currently being exported to the Czech Republic and that there are significant prospects for cooperation in the gas sector. It was noted that Azerbaijani gas is already being exported to neighboring countries of the Czech Republic, highlighting that there are good opportunities for exports to the Czech Republic as well.
The parties also exchanged views on further expanding economic-trade relations, touching upon the activities of Czech companies in Azerbaijan. Cooperation matters in political, economic, trade, and investment areas were discussed.
Petr Fiala congratulated the President of Azerbaijan on the occasion of COP29 being held in Azerbaijan, expressed his gratitude for the invitation, and emphasized his pleasure to participate in this event.
