Azerbaijan has eliminated case allowing reduction of marriage age by 1 year, it is reflected in the amendment to the Family Code approved by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, APA reports.
According to the Family Code, the marriage age in the Republic of Azerbaijan is set at 18 years. However, if there are valid reasons, at present, the relevant executive authority of the territory of residence of persons wishing to marry and who have not reached the marriage age may, at their request, allow a reduction of the marriage age by no more than 1 year.
According to the draft law, this case is eliminated, and a reduction of the marriage age by no more than 1 year will not be allowed.
